I have been a Primary School teacher for nearly 6 years and am passionate about really getting to know my students. Catering to individual learning styles by varying activities to suit all intelligence’s and abilities is something I’m devoted to, especially through Digital Technologies. Two years ago, I took it upon myself to introduce ‘Unlocking the Code for Robotics in the classroom’ to my school. It focussed on using technology to allow students the freedom to discover solutions to problems both independently and collaboratively as a force for good. I believe linking the curriculum to student’s interests and real life is vital to educate my class in what is required to keep them engaged in their learning. I vigorously encourage students to actively participate in their education through the use of technology in the classroom at every available opportunity. This gives them the skills they require to be savvy tech users and model digital citizens, prepared to tackle any challenge they may experience as they go through life. As teachers, we know what our students need to achieve emotionally, socially, and academically, therefore, as teachers, we should be properly armed to advocate for change. I’m do this by promoting and introducing new and exciting digital technology equipment and software to the students and staff at my school. As George Couros said ‘Technology will not replace teachers, but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational.’
