I am curious about many aspects of student learning. My role provides me with opportunities to engage with teachers and students across year levels and subject areas. I am particularly interested in helping students develop both their oral language and their ‘internalised’ vocabulary. I love the challenge of teaching students how to articulate their thought processes, ideas and feelings. I enjoy teaching metacognition to my Year 5 and 6 maths extension groups as they tackle maths problems. I also experience great satisfaction from helping secondary students with language and literacy difficulties find their voice and experience success as they become more confident to share ideas and ask for clarification. I am fascinated by technology which allows students to collaborate, customise their learning and provide tangible evidence of progress. I am fortunate to have a workplace that is well resourced and peers who encourage me to experiment and create with colleagues and students.
